Mixed Team Sport

Both genders playing with and against each other

Korfball is a ball sport played by hand, where male and female players play together in the same team.

Korfball is the world’s only truly mixed team sport. Male and female players compete with and against each to elude their opponents, using team-work to pass and shoot the ball by hand through the ‘korf’ – a hoop on a pole that sits within the playing area so can be ‘attacked’ from 360 degrees.

As its rules emphasise a high level of co-operation between team-mates, and equalise some of the advantages bigger or stronger players might otherwise gain, korfball is an ideal sport for children and young people.

Korfball is easy to learn. New players can join in and play almost immediately. However, becoming proficient in korfball’s techniques and tactics requires time, practice and dedication.

As a sport where males and females play equal roles, korfball facilitates co-operation, involvement and mutual respect between the genders.
When played by its most dedicated and skilled stars, korfball is a dynamic, exciting spectacle, full of noise, colour and emotion.
